How to Make Sweetpotato Chips in Air Fryer?
Step 1:
Thoroughly wash and scrub your potatoes. Leaving the skin on for additional fiber. Add the slicing attachment to the top of your food processor.
Step 2:
Cut potatoes in half and add one half at a time to food processor to slice into rounds. Depending on the size of the potato, you may need to cut the potato into quarters, so it fits into the machine.
Step 3:
Rinse the sweet potato slices in cool water and pat dry with paper towels.
Step 4:
Toss the sweet potato slices in a bowl with the oil, salt, pepper, and smoked paprika.
Step 5:
Arrange the sweet potato slices in the air fryer basket in a single layer. Be careful not to overlap them. You’ll need to cook them in batches to avoid crowding the air fryer basket.
Step 6:
Cook each batch of chips at 370°F for 15-16 minutes, depending on how crispy you like them. Since air fryers can differ, I recommend checking the first batch halfway through cooking so you can adjust the cooking time if needed. When done cooking, place on a cooling rack and allow to cool and crisp.
Can Sweetpotato Chips Be Oven Baked?
Absolutely; here are the steps!
- Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicon mat.
- Toss the sweet potato slices in a bowl with the oil, salt, pepper, and smoked paprika. Lay them out in a single layer on the prepared baking sheet.
- Bake at 355°F for about 15-20 minutes; check at the halfway point to ensure they do not burn.
- Place on a cooling rack for a few minutes to cool and crisp.
Can I make sweet potato chips without a mandolin or food processor?
Certainly, you can thinly slice your sweet potato chips with a sharp knife. Your chips just might be a little thicker/ take a little longer to cook. But don’t fret; they will still be delicious!
