Yay yay yayyyy! It’s finally Halloween! I don’t know about you, but I love Halloween! Growing up, we always had the best time dressing up, going trick or treating, and then trading candy. I am a HUGE Reese Peanut Butter Cup fan! Especially the holiday edition ones like the pumpkins, Christmas trees, and Easter eggs! Mmmm so good! Anyway, I would trade all of my candy for like 4 Reeses from my sisters. (Obviously, I’m not a very good bargainer). Oh and I would give all of my Dots away for free. Those were not my fav! One of my favorite parts of Halloween were the parties. People always get so creative with the party snacks! From the witches cauldron to the spider cakes, everything is Halloween themed! I have been working with 3, 4, and 5 year olds for the past 4 months and absolutely love it! They are so cute and reminded me just how much I love Halloween! I wanted to make a couple of healthy snacks that kids would like, but wouldn’t give them a sugar rush. This is what I came up with!
“Orange” You Glad it’s Halloween
This one is super simple! You don’t even have to use a stove! It just takes a little time and a steady hand. You will need a knife, a cutie, an orange, a tiny piece of celery, and some fruit.
"Orange" You Glad It's Halloween
Ingredients
- 1 Orange
- Fruit I used strawberries and blueberries
- Celery
- 1 Cutie
Instructions
- With a sharp pairing knife, cut the inside of the orange out. You can eat the orange later or use it in a smoothie like I did!
- Cut little faces into the carved out orange
- Fill with fruit, yogurt, pudding, etc.
- For the baby orange all you need to do is peel the cutie and top it with a tiny piece of celery
- Enjoy!
Cantaloupe Pumpkin
Sticking with the fruit theme, we have a simple pumpkin made out of random slices of cantaloupe. The face is made with blueberries and the stem is a little piece of celery. You could also make this on a big platter for a party! Perfect for kids!
Halloween Popcorn
I made this yummy mix for the kids I babysit the other night. They loved it! I mean whats not to love? Popcorn, candy corn, honey roasted peanuts, and a little pumpkin pie spice! Yum! And it looks pretty too! This would be great to make and put into little bags for party favors! Make sure to make a couple with out peanuts too for those with nut allergies!
Hope you all have a wonderful Halloween!
Happy Cooking!
